Description
The Love Symbol that Prince went by when he was “The Artist Formerly Known as Prince” is a combination of a treble clef, a cross, and a marriage of symbols for male and female – a perfect representative of the complexity behind the man.
There is temptation to simply turn said symbol, a raspberry beret, a red corvette, starfish and coffee, or other into a three dimensional object with a hollow for storing cremated remains as an answer to what to do with the remains of such a massive persona. While all of these could be designed and executed well, we felt the legacy of such an artistic giant deserves more effort, thought, and Heartfelt Design.
Memento has combined the elements of the The Love Symbol with a luxuriant, sensual, and amorphous shape. The color purple has to be included, but not in a fashion that was overwhelming – rather as an accent supported by the majority of the elements. The translucent purple flower/flame/spirit at the center gathering light becomes more intense in sunlight but also emanates a soft purple glow in the dark as a result of embedded phosphorescent powders. The overall impression is intense, larger than life, and both out of time while representative of Prince’s body of work.
Process
- a 1 to 1 positive of the Purple Royalty Urn vessel will be machined and painstakingly hand carved to create the needed model for creating a mold for casting of the vessel
- mold will be taken to foundry where casting in aluminum will be completed
- vessel will be hand ground and finished smooth
- a two-part custom closure will be machined and then permanently affixed to the vessel opening with the inner element having The Love Symbol engraved and backfilled with the same resin as the flower/flame/spirit
- vessel will be powder coated and custom painted
- the threaded closure will be completed with a 100% silicon gasket to create an air-tight seal
- positive flower/flame/spirit will be machined and hand sculpted for resin mold creation
- flower/flame/spirit will be permanently fixed to a housing from within the vessel to continue an air tight seal
- item will be custom crated, insured, and shipped anywhere in the world
