Dylan Lucas Mathews was referred to affectionately as “The Squid” while in utero. The squid body is made form a turned and carved piece of Holly and houses Dylan’s cremains. Here one can see how the main pieces fit together and are locked together with an ebony tenon that does double duty as the squid eyes. The ink is walnut and also has a receptacle where the parents have placed several keepsakes.
